some more training

its been a busy few weeks, editing our collective butts off and trying to make sense of the madness. With my show deep in post, I have been recruited to help on another AWESOME Animal Planet show. So far been working with snakes and gators, and am getting the opportunity to wield a camera a little more... which is always fun.

Underwater camera and me very happy!

Watching alligator

Almost 11 hours in the cold water, semi dry suit saved my butt (thanks Bill!!!)

Teresa and Marielle owning a 'gator... thanks girls

Moving gator for shoot

And tomorrow, off to Catalina to get retrained on a rebreather.... should be fun

adios,d

Catching up----till Jan

After having a look at my website, and fixing a few broken links, I looked at my blog and realized that I had not written anything since October 27th. Long time, much has happened. I will try and keep it chronological, and here goes.
I was offered the unique opportunity to write for the new Australian reptile magazine called “SCALES AND TAIL”. I will have a column in every edition (it comes out every two months).

Beginning of November I moved to LA, starting full time work in TV production. We filmed more “I WAS BITTEN”, and during one of the days of shooting, got some of the best high-speed footage I have seen. This has subsequently led to another project that I will be working on soon. I also tried my hand at holding the camera, and some of my work didn’t suck. It was good enough to make the final cut in Episode 3 of “I WAS BITTEN”

After a very, very busy November, and a lot of work behind the camera, we headed to Africa. It was another hectic schedule, and I tried my hand in front of the camera. Results will be available for viewing soon. More news to follow.

After returning to the US, we had an uneventful, and cold festive season.
Early January has seen more shooting for a variety of shows. Most of the time has been in the office, squeezing our minds of every last ounce of creative juices we have. Being that close to greatness is amazing, and seeing your ideas being developed and filmed, and eventually cut into existence is really amazing.

And looking to the future, some travel plans are coming together, I have been confirmed as a speaker at the International Herpetological Association meeting in Monterey, Mexico, which takes place in June.

BITTEN Shoot IV

Just got back from Miami, where we shot some more footage for Discovery series "I WAS BITTEN"

We did some big cat work, fun and scary!! As usual, envelopes were pushed, blood was shed, and everyone got out alive.
After cats, we got to work with the real fun stuff, super deadly snakes. More pics as they trickle in!!

This is my first mobile post, being done via my blackberry at San Diego airport. So, please excuse typos etc

Finished editing home video from australia, have a look under videos section or click here
It was not meant to be a hard core herp bit, but it does really reflect my time there.

More exciting news, got a couple pairs of Teva's (see here) and these are by far the best shoes I have ever worn, period. I had some of the sandals on a shoot in florida, and they were awesome. My producer gave me a couple pairs of their shoes, and they are mind blowing, light, amphibious, amazing. I am eagerly awaiting my new Teva hiking boots, which I should have next week.
Also got a pair to give away on www.fieldherpforum.com go there to win them!!

I am off to ohio for a few days...
